Collection: Noa Spector

Spector Noa, (b 1972, Tel Aviv) is a multidisciplinary artist, painter, and sculptor.

Her work explores the deconstruction of mental patterns and their reconstruction in the material world through physical actions of the body. Each new assemblage is a revelation and a surprise. This process allows emotions that are usually blurred or repressed in daily life to surface, gain legitimacy, and crystallize into acts of rage and violence performed through the materials she works with.

Time and sustained observation during the breakdown process create a new space of action that feels sensitive, raw, and instinctive. She works alone in the studio, where time and space belong entirely to her. The dialogue with her work is intimate and exposing.

Her recurring themes revolve around how her body and psyche respond to past traumas and which defense mechanisms have emerged in order to survive them. These mechanisms may remain encoded and invisible to the viewer, but the turbulence in her spirit and in her hand cannot be hidden.
